Fashion is cyclical and I feel so is our writing. We have gone from pictographic script to runes, to decorative alphabets to minimalist web fonts and then back to pictographic with emojis.
Is it time to bring back the runes?

I was fascinated with them after reading Lord of The Rings when I was in school and at some point I completely forgot about it. I don’t see runes used anywhere these days except as as old school reference. Will this style ever make a practical comeback? After all it’s the only script you can write in all caps without giving the reader an impression they are being shouted at.
